The Everyday Mom: “Boy, Oh Boy — Baby #3 Is a Whole New Game.”

After two girls, we thought we had this baby gig more or less figured out. We’d faced sleepless nights, blowouts in public places, and that one time someone finger-painted with Sudocream. But baby number three came along — a boy — and suddenly we’re in uncharted territory.

In just two weeks, we’ve done more baby laundry than our own. He’s peed in the bed three times in one night. Thank goodness baby clothes are tiny, because I’m doing about three loads a day and our laundry basket looks like a cotton candy explosion.

Nappies? We’ve tried six brands. Six. Some good, some just okay, and some that feel like they were made of tissue paper and dreams. Every pee is a gamble — will it stay in, or will it leak up his back, out the side, and somehow onto my sock?

And then comes the changing table chaos. Mid-nappy change, just as I’m wiping and thinking I’ve got this under control — he lets loose. Pee on the dirty nappy, the clean nappy, the mat, my shirt, and even the wall. Honestly, I should start wearing a poncho.

Girls, I love you, but your little brother? He’s a whole new experience. Boys are wild. Messy. Hilarious. And apparently… water-pressure engineers in training.
